Abstract

The local tribes of the Humboldt region (Hupa, Yurok, Karuk, Tolowa) all consider the High Country in the Six Rivers National Forest a sacred place, and the building of the G-O Road will have devastating effects on their culture and religious practices. The Forest Service believes that by building the G-O Road, they will create new jobs to bring economic revitalization to Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
