This article describes Ronald Reagan's attitude towards assimilating Indian and his ethnocentric views, which shows itself again in the Lyng v NICPA case. Reagan stated in a conference, "maybe we made the mistake in trying to maintain Indian cultures. Maybe we should not have humored them in that, wanting to stay in that primitive lifestyles."
