Decision Expected On GO Road

Title
Decision Expected On GO Road
Description
The six miles of the GO Road that the U.S.D.A. Forest Service wants to complete paving for timber and mining access traverses the Helkau National Register Historic District, requiring the Forest Service to consult with advisory councils. The route that would go around the sacred area of Chimney Rock was rejected by the Forest Service because of geological instability. The route the Forest Service proposed and supports would impact the loss of fifty acres of wildlife habitat and psychic intrusion and interference to Indian cultural resources.
